Understanding your baby’s sleep schedule is essential for healthy growth. Use this baby sleep calculator to find the perfect sleep duration, naps, and wake windows based on age.
Babies need between 10–17 hours depending on age.
A wake window is the period of time your baby stays awake between one sleep period and the next. Getting wake windows right is the most important factor in avoiding an overtired baby who struggles to fall and stay asleep.
Newborns (0-3 months) need 14-17 hours of sleep per day, including multiple naps. At this stage, babies sleep in short cycles of 2-3 hours.
Infants (4-11 months) need 12-15 hours. By 6 months, most babies can sleep longer stretches at night.
Toddlers (1-2 years) need 11-14 hours, usually with one afternoon nap.
